My princess' mini birthday cake

Happy Birthday to you~~~~~

This year, she requests for a sweets house cake. The first request since she saw it in one of my caking books. I tried my best to make her one at last. This would be an unforgetable cake in her 3 years old.

Her happiness is my happiness too.

Baking mooncakes can be so much fun~

Look at those pieces! Do you believe they are mooncakes?

I created them by using the egg moulds I bought recently from the 100yen shop.

Today I received an email from unknown friend, Bebee, showing her interest in making mooncake.

Here, I would like to share with her the recent mooncakes I bake.
The filling here is pineapple. My kids love them!!

All the mooncakes were eaten after 2 weeks. I will bake another batch with lotus paste and durian filling this weekend. Something must be done by every year..... :D

Happy baking~!

Cakes for the party

My first Barbie Doll jellycake and Ben10 cake!

My self accessment for Ben10 is 40%. (Frankly, it is without any decoration.)
I can't put blossom or small flowers....it's a cake for boy! What should it be?

I am sorry for the Ben10 cake. Tonight really tired after working and looking for the doll. I can't think of any good design for the cake. Anyhow, the edible image already cost me for RM 18. (with 4 batman + 4 ultraman, spare for cuppies)

I give myself 98% for my first Barbie doll jellycake (-2 for the improper doll usage.)
Hehe....save RM138++ (if you happend to buy in K.L.)

Hope my kids will enjoy the party at kindy with friends.
They must be excited to meet Barbie~!
Oops~! Forgot to mention, the Barbie doll jellycake is for my girl.
She also wants to have photo session with her friends. Her birthday will be in Sept.

A full moon cake for baby boy

Last weekend really was a busy weekend but I am satisfied with them.

Besides a wedding cake, I also did a full moon cake for my collegue who has just gave birth to her baby boy. I sent two cakes in a day on 2 May 2009.

Coming soon...Mother's day....but I am afraid I don't have much time to prepare any. End of this month will be Darius' birthday, I need to ask my little prince what kind of cake he would like to have.

I feel that making people around us happy is very meaningful. : )

My first wedding cake!

On this labour day, I fulfill my time with decorating a 3 tier fondant cake. The theme is about fairy tale. On top of the cake is the castle with prince and princess. All the windows are in love. Pink and purple to represent romantic of the wedding.

The fire cracker is for the cake cutting ceremony. I wish it would enlighten the guest in the wedding dinner. :D My first experience of decorating this 3 tier cake is a wonderful thing in my life too! I never thought of making a 3 tier wedding cake! I am proud of it.

For my self, I still need to improve on placing the pillar and also working on the construction of the miniatures. The castles tend to fall sometimes as they don't have a solid base. It is purely fondant.
Next time, I should get ready some polyfoam to make it stand well.

It's a tiring job and it's a present for my friend. I hope to bring joy and happiness to friends around. When I first read through other's blog about fondant birthday cake, I always admire those people have such a thoughtful friends.

Today, I did it myself too! I wish my friend will feel the same way, IT's a pleasure to have me as friend.

Happy Birthday!

Today is my mom-in-law's birthday. Over the years, my attempt to bake her a cake was not successful.

This year is the luckiest year I ever have. Not even to bake her favourite chocolate moist cake with mixed fruit but the cake is well decorated with fondant and theme of "Aries".

I am proud of my first fondant cake. Yiipie~~~

My first wedding cake from hands on workshop

It has been a long while I am getting myself into fondant decorating cake. Yesterday, I enroled myself for a hands on workshop to learn the method of cover dummy and basic wedding cake decoration.

As my first experience, I feel that making the frill is not so easy. I got lots of broken and bad one. Piping the Royal Icing using the 000 nozel also killing me for the first time. I believe practice makes perfect.

According to Chef Eugene, after a few tried, we will get used to it. Anyhow, I learnt a lot and I think it was a nice afternoon to spend in the workshop yesterday.
.... hehe... not bad, huh?

buzzing around the sunflower

These are for a friend of mine. She has two adorable sons who love to eat chocolate. I purposely baked some for them by add in some raisin. I think most of the kids like raisin with chocolate. The result is good. All the cuppies finished by minutes.

There is a mistake I made. I forgot to put in the cuppies paper before I pour in the mixture. That is why my cuppies do not stick to the papers.

I have a new order while meet up with friends. Next week, I am coming out with a birthday cake decorated with fondant too. It is fun to make the piece of art. I feel that cakes now a day not only delicious as it tastes but also as wonderful as it looks.

I am still learning to be good at fondant modelling. Not planning to open any stalls nor business. Just a pastime that can help me to get rid of the hectic life. It is a good way to refresh my mind too.

The most important thing is I am satisfied and proud of making something people like.  :D

Tarts n Puffs pastry

Recently, I attended a pastry hands on workshop. Here's what I've learnt: Apple pie, chicken pie, egg tart, fruit tart, blueberry cheese tart, Portuguese egg tart, choux pastry as cream puff and sardine puff.

Most of the photos I snap on the day I brought back my hands on.  It was a tiring afternoon to spend on tarts. I think baking cakes and bread should be more easier. No wonder tarts are expensive. Anyhow, I think most of us will prefer to buy. :p

Baking can be a good way for us to release tension but in the other way, it's tiring. I wonder I got into a wrong hobby. I like baking the most is to see the outcome and gain the most satisfaction through the process.

Lastly, I would like to thank Chef Alan Ooi for all the effort.
